Frequently Asked Questions

All your common questions answered!

Sign up for the trip anyways, but indicate in the comments that you're trying to get the time off work. Please remember to cancel your request if you are unable to make the trip.
This likely won't be an issue! We have quite a bit of spare gear, and if we don't have it we know where to get it (either by renting or from a friend). Sign up, just be sure to indicate that you will need some gear. When we confirm final trip numbers we will make sure everyone has the gear that they need.
Yes absolutely! We would like to have you along on one of the easier trips for sure. It is amazing that you are stepping out of your comfort zone and trying a new activity. We would be happy to help make the experience enjoyable as you explore God's creation! We recommend starting with trips rated "Enjoyable by All", but if you are physically fit you can do one rated "Moderate" as well.
It depends on the trip. Some trips there will be a shared food and gas cost, though historically this has been quite reasonable. The big ticket is reservations and any rental costs (if we need a canoe trailer, extra canoe, etc). Historically, longer trips have average about $80-$90 per person, while short weekends will be significantly cheaper, especially since some don't require reservations. If cost is a barrier for you, please let us know your situation and we would be happy to see what can be done to help! Ultimately, we want you to get outside and experience God's wonderful creation!
Only those listed as trip organizers will have access to the personal information you provide when creating an account...and Mitayo as the mastermind behind the website. Rest assured the information you provide will not be given or accessible to anyone else.
Yes! When you request to join a trip you have to wait for the trip organizer to approve your request. At any point you can cancel your request from your "Manage Trip Responses". In this same area you will see the ability to request to rejoin a trip if you cancelled it, but are actually able to come.
No. We organize these trips for our friends, and friends of friends. If you sign up, when we go to contact everyone if we haven't heard of you before, chances are slim you will be coming. We will see your email address and assume our spam filter failed. The sole purpose of putting these events on the web is to make our life easier when organizing these events.
We will cap the numbers at what we deem as reasonable and safe. Often we have logistical constraints such as the number of canoes available, other times the number of campsites limit how many people can come. Approximately two weeks prior to the activity we figure out logistics including how we are getting there, what we are eating, etc. If you need to take time off work in order to come, please let us know so that we can ensure that there will be no issues!
